Dynomighty began in 2001 after I was digging around in the trash at my day job at the Museum of Modern Art and discovered some plastic puzzle parts that had magnets inside them. I broke them open and was putting the magnets out on my desk when they suddenly shot together to form a straight line. Looking at them in this strand they looked like beads in a bracelet. I wondered if I could make jewelry that was held together only by magnetic force. This chance discovery was the first step on the road to starting Dynomighty.
A few years later I was so busy filling orders that I chose to quit my day job and commit myself entirely to
the Dynomighty project which was being run out of my tiny East Village apartment in NYC.
As Dynomighty grew so did the demand for new products. Working off the success of the magnetic jewelry I experimented with a magnetic desk organizer called Desk DOTS…®. It was and continues to be a great seller even after years on the market.
Today our most exciting product is our Mighty Wallet® which I originally designed in 2005 and re-branded as the Mighty Wallet® in 2008. The Mighty Wallet® has created a revolution in thin wallet design. We have also helped foster an entire DIY movement in Tyvek® wallets. Our success in developing Tyvek® products has also driven a market wide interest in the material and we have continued to develop exciting new products in this material.
Be expressive, be creative, be original! We have created an entire series of Draw It Yourself Mighty Wallets (DIY Collection), Mighty Tags and Mighty Totes.
We encourage creativity and expression through our online contest featuring our DIY products. See our entire product line at www.dynomighty.com.
Our goal is to make the Mighty Wallet® the best thin wallet on the market. The Mighty Wallet® is becoming a recognized brand across the U.S. and in over 48 countries internationally. Our story is still unfolding, and much of our success is due to our phenomenal fans who support our brand, endorsing Mighty Wallet® with their friends, both online and off.

Terrence Kelleman
President
Dynomighty Design
Terrence Kelleman studied painting and print making for his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art. The day after graduation, he boarded a flight to the South of France where he began what would become a three year séjour in the beauty of Provence.
This was a formative period of independent study, where he was exposed to an entirely new culture and language that transformed his perceptions and aspirations for art. Living and working in a small New York environment was fertile ground for Kelleman's developing photographic work, which evolved into performance art. Kelleman performed at galleries internationally, and worked closely with the CAVE gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on many of his most important shows and performances.
It was during one such show that Kelleman invested an enormous amount of time, energy and money into what was hoped to be the breakthrough moment of his artistic career.
Instead the show was very poorly attended and not one photograph sold. This disappointing reality was slightly lessened by some sales of the magnetic jewelry that was left at the information desk.
This twist of fate directed his energies into making Dynomighty a success so that he could pursue his artistic aspirations without financial burden or dependency on selling his art. Kelleman runs Dynomighty like a creative agency instead of a manufacturing business, engaging all of its employees to participate by sharing their thoughts and ideas in the creative process.
The Original Folded Tyvek Wallet since 2005
In 2004 I had just left my day job to strike out on my own with my fledgling Dynomighty project. Up til then I had been only selling magnetic jewelry and was trying to diversify our product line so not to have all my eggs in one basket. I found these Duct-tape wallets online and thought what a cool idea.
Duct Tape wallets took a material that people were familiar with that was associated with strength and durability and converted it into something functional. The only limitation I found was that the material itself was bulky and didn’t fold very well. During this same period I had been fascinated with Tyvek as a material and I had been trying to come up with ways to use it in a new product design.
Using Tyvek to make a wallet seemed so obvious to me that I was surprised that no searches online came up with any results. This sparked a wave of excitement in me to find a way to use this material in a tear resistant, water resistant and recyclable wallet design! The idea consumed me for several days as I tried to come up with a design that would reinforce the inherent properties of the Tyvek material itself.
When I thought back on any wallet I have ever owned it seemed obvious to me that the weakest point was the stitching. Another prohibitive factor of sewing Tyvek is that it would create tiny holes that could eventually rip or create weak points so I resolved myself to create a folded design that would be made from a single sheet of Tyvek.
This created some real headaches for me, besides I could barely keep track of which folds went where on all of these trial designs which were just blank sheets of paper strewn across my desk.
First, I didn’t know if it was technically possible to fold Tyvek in the ways I needed to. I knew that Tyvek could be folded to make envelopes but just how many folds could you make and could it be possible to make a machine made folded design from one single sheet of Tyvek?
